    I decided to make a thread and share some songs/vids that I really enjoy. Might be common ground for some, totally wrong for others lol. But I dont think it could hurt. Feel free to comment. :nod:

    First one:

    SWV- Anything

    Sisters With Voices. I always preferred them to TLC and they'd run CIRCLES around Destiny's Child. They represent that "new jack swing" r&b sound that was so hot in the 90s. I was introduced to them in my sophomore year of highschool. this is the song that won me over completely. most people prefer the remix version feat. wu tang clan...but i like the album version better. its sexier to me.

    Oh I LOVED SWV lol. I don't think they got the fame they deserved. Wonder what happened to them...

    Edit:

    If anyone's interested... What SWV Are Doing Now

    I enjoy them too! they seemed to peak creatively with their LONG awaited follow up to "it's about time", called "use your heart" in 1996. "release some tension" in 1997 seemed kind bland to me and shortly after that...they broke up mainly due to coko's over inflated ego and the want for a solo career (which failed).

    last year there was buzz as swv had been seen together for a series of photo shoots and there was talk they were getting back in the studio for a new album. one of them has become deeply religious so that was hampering them during some performances on songs she felt were too "sexually suggestive" for her to sing now.

    My current dance song obsession is Kesha's "Blow". She might not actually be able to sing....and be a hot mess, but her songs are so much fun to dance to. :D

    And in polar opposite news, lol, this is a score i've been seriously obsessed with since hearing it playing in the background of an L&O SVU promo. It's on reply on my itunes.

    ill admit, sam, Ke$ha's "we r who we r" has a hot sound/beat to it...if it was in the hands of someone like Madonna or Robyn that song wouldve been amazing. I love the sound of it (MINUS her wack ass "vocals"). its infectious and makes you want to dance. the girl has no talent...but she gets these hot beats and tracks! its crazy!

    I'm not a religious person, but with my background and life experience I was introduced to "gospel" music in its many forms. kirk franklin later took the genre and turned it on its head in the late 90s and made groups like Mary Mary possible.

    This song here has been a mainstay on my play list since early 2008. It came out shortly after I lost a dear friend (Dorothy) to cancer. Mary Mary was a fav of her's and this song's lyrics actually encouraged ME and helped me to get through grieving over Dorothy. They don't sound overly religious at all and the song has a great sound to it. the vid was shot in Detroit too. :nod:

    Mary Mary- Get up

    Among my diverse musical tastes, I enjoy electro/acid jazz. Its a really smooth, creative genre. I was introduced to it back in 1994 by a friend. This song here is another one that is on my daily "work music" play music.

    Jazzanova- Takes you back (electric sheep mix)

    Foxy Brown feat. Total- I Can't

    my jr. year in college...i was really feeling this song. I love the beat structure, tempo and musical style. of course Foxy Brown has totally fallen by the wayside since this but this was definately a good song. Good for bumping in the car.

    I have it on one of my playlists on my computer and it came on tonight while i was online so I thought i'd share it here.

    Shola Ama- This I promise you

    This song came up on my list this morning while I'm @ work.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBYoXwqpoXI"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBYoXwqpoXI[/ame]

    Its roller skating ditty from back in 2001 they used to play @ 21 & up night. I'd forgotten about it until today. Takes me back to pleasant memories of someone I don't interact with anymore when we used to go rollerskating together every saturday night.

    Chaka Khan feat. George Benson - End of a love affair

    This came up on my list today while at work

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d61cwu0P9EI"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d61cwu0P9EI[/ame]

    It's one of my favorite Chaka Khan songs (though its a cover a of a Billie Holiday tune if i remember correctly)

    I just enjoy the jazz and bluesy aspect of it.

    Since this thread seems to be living back in the 90's :p, i'll post a current song i'm obsessed with. :D LOL

    Musical goddess Adele. Nuff said lol.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx7sLNyIeQk"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx7sLNyIeQk[/ame]

    and on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, another Kesha song with a sick beat. This girl gets so damn lucky when it comes to the music she gets.

    My 7-month old's favorite:

    Michael Jackson "Will You Be There"

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRqYVFr7sL4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRqYVFr7sL4[/ame]

    I chose the one with the lyric because then I can sing to her...

    guilty pleasure

    so i totally despise Chris Brown. I think he's a real bastard...BUT I LOVE SWV! I grew up listening to them in the 90s.

    its like full circle for this song. Michael jackson wrote Human Nature, SWV sampled it for Right Here, Chris Brown sampled Human Nature/Right here for She aint you (which i avoided after hearing it on the radio) & NOW there's a remix of She aint you via Human Nature/Right here featuring SWV :D

    As awful as Chris Brown is, I love that Michael Jackson's Human Nature is basically the gift that keeps on giving & SWV still have beautiful voices!

    EnVogue - Whatever remix

    This is playing on my laptop right now while I'm reading over some stuff from work. The original version & video were a mainstay on my TV back in 1997 when it came out, love it.

    I heard THIS version for the first time when visiting a club in Windsor Canada in 1999. I didnt hear it again till like 2004 & I vowed to find it online somewhere. Finally found it a year ago & snapped it up!
